LBN667, the Soul Nebula (Westerhout 5), is an emission nebula in the Cassiopeia Constellation. It is near its companion IC1805, the Heart Nebula. At 6500 light years from Earth, the Soul Nebula received its name partly due to its proximity to the Heart Nebula. Sitting side by side in the night sky, they are often referred to as the “Heart and Soul”. Radiating the color hues of oranges, blues, and yellows for the ionized hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur gases, it is easy to lost in wonder if you stare too long into this soul. Gazing into the dense, swirling columns of gases and dust you can glimpse the glow of an interstellar nursery coming to life.
