NGC6992 Eastern Veil Nebula is part of a large supernova remnant in the Cygnus Constellation. This is a small part of a larger structure called the Cygnus Loop. The star responsible for the remnants exploded about 10,000 – 20,000 thousand years ago and is only 2400 light years away from Earth. Being 110 light years in length, these long filaments demonstrate just how powerful yet intricate supernovae are. The beauty of this nebula makes it difficult to remember how explosive and devastating the events leading to our current night sky truly were.
